Dogtor Wash
Guide

How much does mobile dog grooming cost in the GTA?

Mobile grooming costs more than a chain salon, and this guide walks you through why. By the end, you will know the starting price, how we charge, and what is included in every appointment.

What does a mobile groom start at?

Full Bath starts at $99 and Full Grooming starts at $110 in the GTA. These are our lowest starting prices.

The price depends on your dog's size and coat type. A doodle, a husky, and a pug each need a different amount of time and a different kind of care, so they land on different rows.

We also have menus by coat type: Double-Coat Full Service (golden retrievers, huskies, shepherds), Short-Hair Full Service (bulldogs, pugs, boxers), and Heavy-Coat Full Service (Samoyeds, chow chows, Newfoundlands).

Every price shown is a starting price, plus HST. We confirm the final price at your door once we meet your dog. No surprises.

What decides the final price?

Size and coat are the main factors. A large or 2XL dog costs more than a small dog. A dog with a thick double coat costs more than a short-haired dog because the groom takes longer.

Special needs can add to the price too. If your dog has matted fur, knots fee starts at $20 per 20 minutes, up to 3 blocks. If your dog cannot settle and needs two people, a handling fee of $25 may apply.

We tell you before we add anything.

Where you live can add a travel fee. We base out of Oakville and serve Etobicoke, Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills, and Hamilton. Depending on the area, a travel fee may apply.

We tell you before we book. Where paid parking is the only option, a parking fee can apply.

What is included in the price?

Every groom includes these steps, start to finish. One groomer works with your dog alone, no other dogs in the van. Most grooms take 45 to 80 minutes, depending on the dog and the coat.

During the groom: your dog is bathed with the right shampoo for their coat, fully dried, cut and finished, and nails and ears are checked. The van is heated and air-conditioned year-round with heated water, so your dog is warm and comfortable.

After: your dog gets cologne and a fresh accessory, and you get before and after photos with a short report. We tell you what we noticed.

Then we offer to book the next appointment on your dog's ideal schedule.

Why does mobile cost more than a salon?

A mobile groom costs more because you pay for time and attention, not volume. A busy salon grooms many dogs a day in one space. One groomer, one dog, one van is a different business.

Your dog gets one groomer's full attention from start to finish. No cage, no car ride, no room full of barking dogs. The van comes to your door.

Many owners say it pays for itself in how calm their dog is after.

The van itself costs a lot to run. Real heating and air conditioning, heated water, and every tool on board. It is a whole salon on wheels, and it drives to your door.

Which extras and fees should I know about?

Beyond the base price, common extras include premium shampoos: Deshedding and Conditioner, Flea and Tick, or Oatmeal, $15 each. You can add teeth brushing for $20 or nail grinding for $25.

Bundle deals save 50% when you combine services: Shampoo and Teeth is $17.50, Shampoo and Nail Grinding is $20, Teeth and Nail Grinding is $22.50, and Anal Gland, Teeth, and Nail Grinding is $30.

You may see other extras on the menu: hand scissoring (from $15), hand stripping ($20), poodle feet ($10), anal gland expression ($15), or de-skunking ($40).

We quote you for any add-on before the groom starts.

How do I pay?

Card or cash, right at the van. We quote your total before the groom, plus HST, and confirm it at your door when the groomer is done.

Everything is settled at the van, nothing before and nothing after. Tips are not expected, but they are always appreciated, and you can add them at the van if you choose.

How do I keep grooming costs steady?

A regular grooming schedule keeps the price predictable. Dogs with longer or curly coats mat quickly and need frequent grooms. When you wait too long, the groomer spends extra time on knots, which adds a fee.

We suggest a schedule based on your dog's breed and coat at the first visit. Many doodle owners book every 4 to 8 weeks. Dogs with short hair might go longer.

If you stick to the schedule, your dog comes to the van in good shape, the groom takes the expected time, and the cost stays the same.

Brush your dog at home between visits if they have a longer coat. We will show you how on your first visit. A regular schedule plus at-home brushing keeps the cost down and your dog comfortable.

Is there a size chart with prices?

Our Full Bath and Full Grooming menus go from Extra Small to 2XL. Extra Small Full Bath starts at $99, and it goes up to $175 for a 2XL. Full Grooming starts at $110 and goes up to $200 for a 2XL.

The coat menus (Double-Coat, Short-Hair, Heavy-Coat) have their own starting prices. Size sets the row on the menu, and the coat sets which menu.
